Alsace

france-alsace_header

Located on the Northwest border of France and Germany, this region has experienced over 200 years of war, which lead to repeated changes in nationality and resulted in the wines being more German than French in style. Vignerons in the Alsace produce mainly aromatic whites that were traditionally dry in style yet are now typically produced in the off-dry style. In Alsace the attention is spent on the grapes, while the wine makers prefer to take the hands off approach and let the grapes express themselves through the wine. Many wineries remain small family run establishments that practice organic and biodynamic farming.
