Oregon like California entered into a similar competition in 1979 where an Oregon wine placed 2nd against the great wines of Burgundy. Like the French sense of terrior, Oregon wines refer to their wines has having a “sense of place”. Wineries in Oregon are at the forefront of the environmental wine making movement, with a large percentage certified as sustainable, organic or biodynamic.
