Tasting Notes
BitterFruityHoppy
Annapolis Brewing started a couple years ago and is located in the historic old town of Annapolis Royal. A couple of friends that were avid home brewers and decided to take it to the next level. They serve pints at the taproom near the water, and also package their beer that’s found all over Nova Scotia.
Tasting Notes
The cannons at Fort Anne have gone silent but the history of our Fort Town packs a bang. The Annapolis Brewing Company’s logo is derived from the cannons that watched over Annapolis Royal’s harbour. This IPA focuses on the hops rather than the bitterness with Cascade, Chinook, Willamette, and Amarillo hops.
Method
Annapolis Brewing’s Ceasefire IPA is brewed with pale 2-row with a dose of Munich and Caramel 60 malt. With hop additions at the 45-minute mark rather than 60 minutes, the hops included are: Cascade, Chinook, Willamette, and Amarillo, giving the beer nice body and hop balance.
Our Thoughts
Definitely on the juicer side for a ‘Westy’ but don’t let that scare you off as there’s still plenty of bitterness to balance out the palate. Caramelized oranges and stone fruit with a soft pine backbone. As the name implies, this beer would work wonderfully to bring balance to a spicy dish; try it with some Indian curry.
