Father and son team, Jean-Noël and Thomas Blard have taken this fifth-generation family domain to the next level in the past twenty years; they craft organic and natural wines from their 10 hectares of vines in the Apremont region of Savoie. They are known for their wines made from the local Jacquère and Altesse grapes. Thomas is mainly in charge now, and has placed these wines in a new level; he has taken them beyond the realm of simple après ski drinking to appearing at some very refined tables in French Michelin star restaurants.
Tasting Notes
Intense golden yellow in the glass. Aromas of hawthorn blossom, lime blossom, citrus, grapefruit and gunflint. Hawthorn and lime blossom flavours come through on a fresh and vibrant palate along with notes of apple, pear, citrus and fresh herbs. Mouthwatering and crisp. Enjoy with light appetizers, fried fish, salty snacks.
Method
This wine is from the Apremont Cru (not to be confused with a single vineyard, here this refers to a more specific designated area within the Vin de Savoie appellation), this is one of the 16 crus producing wines in the Vin de Savoie Appellation Origine Controlée. It is made from Jacquère grapes. Whole bunch fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, pressed and and vinified. The wine ages for a period in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees.
