The vines are tended to by vineyard manager Tim Scott who previously managed the vineyards of Domaine Drouhin for 15 years. He understands the delicate and temperamental nature of Pinot Noir, a grape, that requires very specific site attributes. The topography and climate of Willamette Valley offers ideal growing conditions for the varietal, and more specifically.  Archery Summit implements organic farming practices, including a biodynamic approach at the Renegade Ridge Estate vineyard. Vines are densely planted to produce smaller berries and yields are kept extremely low. Vineyards are planted to a wide selection of clones to produce a broad range of flavors from which to blend, and rootstock-to-clone combinations are continuously undergoing trials to best match plants to specific site requirements in order to create the most complex wines possible.  Archery Summit is the only Oregon winery with natural caves. Modeled after the underground caverns of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, our subterranean cellar is hewn from the natural volcanic rock found beneath the estate. This feature naturally maintains a temperature of 55°F to 59°F throughout the year, with a humidity level below 75%. These are optimal conditions for storing wines maturing in barrel.

Rare and Fine 2019.

Tasting Notes

This seductive, elegant wine leads with vibrant floral notes of lilac and violet. These floral components are joined by touches of cherry, red raspberry, blood orange, and a hint of cocoa powder. Secondary notes of black licorice, berry bramble, and rosemary complement the leading fruit flavors. The flavors are persistent and saturating, enveloping the palate and lingering through a refined, balanced finish.
