Born in the 1980s, Aurélie Berthod believed her destiny was to take over the family business. She earned a “Master In Business” degree at the Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, France and a degree in Business Administration and Management at the Faculty of Business in Granada, Spain. She returned to Burgundy, France (where she had previously met her husband, a winemaker) in the late 2000s and in 2012, she left her job in marketing to manage and develop the administrative part of her in-law’s wine estate.
In 2017, Aurélie had the opportunity to buy a wine estate of 5.5 hectares of vineyards in Pernand-Vergelesses, Chorey-les-Beaune, and Beaune and she founded her own wine estate “Domaine Aurélie BERTHOD”. She was met with accolades from her very first harvest; the wines are often in the top in blind tastings.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant yellow gold in the glass. The nose is elegant and fresh; notes of citrus, peach and white flowers. The palate has good fruit concentration, minerality and a pleasing creamy buttery quality. The wine is harmonious and very well balanced with a long finish. Enjoy it with pasta, fatty fish, shellfish, cheese (Brie, goat cheese, blue cheese).
Method
Made from sustainably grown Chardonnay grapes grown on clay limestone soil in the Cote de Beaune appellation of Pernand Vergelesse from the premier Cru Le Creux de La Net. The grapes are hand harvested and aged for 9-12 months in oak barrels.
