Cantine Belisario was established in 1971 and today farms 300 hectares of vineyards and large capacity winery. They are the largest producer of Verdicchio di Matelica DOC in the Alta Valle Esina of the Marche region. They work closely with viticulturalists, a head oenologists and a team of cellar masters to produce quality wines.
Tasting Notes
This is a rich expression of Verdicchio. The palate is well structured showing stone fruit and persistent and pleasant savory quality. There is great minerality here. Enjoy this now or watch it evolve and develop in the bottle as Verdicchio can age beautifully. Excellent as an aperitif with hot appetizers, pasta and fish dishes.
Method
This wine is from the Matelica appellation, located in the Province of Macerata in the Italian region of Le Marche. It is made from Verdicchio grapes sourced from a few different sites within the appellation. 70% of the grapes are from the Tralivio vineyard, the oldest and best vines of Belisario. 30% of the vines are harvested in November, later than is typical thus providing a wonderful rich fruit element and to balance the remaining portion’s zippy acidity. The resulting wine is full, dry with a slightly higher alcohol content as result.
