Bodegas Langa is family owned and operated and is the only bodega in the Calatayud region. All of their grapes are grown in either of their two estate vineyards, which are located in different parts of the region with distinctively different microclimates. No herbicides, pesticides, or chemicals of any kind are used in the vineyards. All of their wines and cavas are produced organically with the European certification. The bodega is now working to obtain the U.S. organic certification.

Tasting Notes

This full bodied, dry red is made from organically farmed old vine Garnacha (Grenache). Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks using natural yeast and the wine is aged for 12 months in 2-3 year old American oak and for a further 6 months in bottle prior to release. Vivid purple colour. Ripe red and blue berry, peppery, and fresh rose aromas. Black raspberry, cherry and vanilla flavors. Soft finish with a touch of sweet raspberry and floral notes.

Our Thoughts

The nose entices with plenty of red and dark fruit, baking spices and tobacco. The palate is rich and round with a velvety texture; the medium acidity and tannin levels of this Garnacha means it is equally enjoyable with or without food. The $20 price tag doesn’t hurt either!
