The Breton Brewing Company is located in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The tasting room is open for brewery tours, growler fills, pints, and entertainment! Breton has quickly become a staple not only in the hometown of Sydney, but also across the province for their offerings of well made everyday craft beer. They brew a core lineup of hoppy ales, crisp lagers, and some fruited sours, and you’ll sometime catch them with a mixed fermentation barrel aged beer from time to time.

Tasting Notes

This is a light and refreshing Hefeweizen, brewed to let the clove and banana aromas come through. The palate has rich notes of banana, clove spice and is followed by the style’s trait of big carbonation and crisp, dry finish. This is a summer beer if there ever was one!

Weissebier or Hefeweizen is one of Germany’s oldest styles of Ale – Brewed with 60% wheat malt as per the style guidelines, and using the weissebier ale yeast that produces the style’s distinct banana, bubblegum, and clove spice aromas and flavours.

This version has been bottle conditioned, just like the proper German wheat beers, the process of bottle conditioning not only creates a more stable beer that keeps it’s freshness longer, it also helps create a much more complex carbonation and refined mouthfeel.
