Ca’ Rugate takes its name from the hill where it stands, in the Soave Classico zone of the province of Verona, where the majority of the vineyards belonging to the Tessari family are sited. The business has been in the family’s hands for four generations and now includes 72 hectares altogether- between Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello. The Valpolicella territory extends for 8,000 hectares, from east to west, in the central strip of the Verona province. Of these, about 3,500 are in the “classical” zone and 4,500 are in the D.O.C. zone. The grapes for Amarone production are sourced from this area and transformed into this full bodied, lush and velvety wine.

Tasting Notes

This is a blend of 45% Corvina, 15% Rondinella and 40% Corvinone. Intense garnet red in colour. Concentrated aromas of ripe blueberries, blackberries and cherries are enhanced with a hint of spicy oak. The palate is rich, full bodied and complex; beautifully balanced and lingering. An elegant, rich style of Amarone.
