Ranked as a Pauillac Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification, Château Lynch-Moussas was acquired by Jean Castéja in 1919 and has been one of the jewels of the family properties for a century. Passed down to his son Émile, and then by him to his daughter Chantal and his son Philippe, the estate has benefited from the attentions of each generation of the Castéja family, who have cared for, developed, modernised and enhanced this Grand Cru d’Excellence.

The vineyard of Château Lynch-Moussas stretches over 62 hectares in the appellations of Pauillac and Haut-Médoc. Made up of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, it has been nurtured with meticulous care for 100 years, which enables it today to perform at the highest levels alongside the greatest Pauillac growths.

Tasting Notes

The smoky, elegantly toasted nuances are followed by more fruity notes of redcurrants and raspberries. Lots of elegance. The palate does not disappoint. Dense and continuous, it continues with a tender finish, fresh and tannic at the same time.  The Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend provides great tannic structure and amazing ageing potential. The Merlot in the blend brings the roundness and fruit character.  A complex and layered wine.  You can decant this and enjoy it now with red meats, cheese, hearty meals or cellar it for many years and wait for it to develop further.

Method

78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot grown on deep gravel soils. 15 to 20 days of fermentation in thermo regulated stainless steel
tanks. Aged in French oak barrels (about 60% of new barrels) for 18 months.
