Château Tauzinat l’Hermitage is one of the oldest in Saint Emilion. The name comes from “Tauzin” a species of oak trees, famous for the truffles that grow around their feet. The wines of Tauzinat l’Hermitage have been recognised since the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889 and many other medals have rewarded the excellent work of the Moueix family since that time.
Tasting Notes
Expressive nose of red fruits. Cherry and raspberry on the palate with underlying notes of liquorice. Supple with fine grained tannins and persistent pleasing finish.
Method
85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc growing on clay-limestone soil. The vines are about 30 years old. Harvest is carried out exclusively by hand and once the grapes reach full maturity. The grapes are sorted before going into the vat where a long fermentation allows the optimal extraction of tannins and anthocyanins. Aged 12 months in oak barrels.
