Brothers Georges and Daniel Daou set forth across California to find an unrivalled terroir for producing wine, a quest that led them to a place of foretold greatness: Daou Mountain in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles. As The Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine writes: “In only a few years, DAOU has established itself as not only one of the most significant producers in Paso Robles, but a winery whose astonishing breadth of successes has justifiably earned it a place among the very best in the state.”

Tasting Notes

Powerful and intensely aromatic nose; blueberry, boysenberry, black plum. Evolving layers of reveal elderberry and truffle, with cocoa and cardamom spice accents. Eucalyptus, leather, cherry pipe tobacco and grilled meats. The palate is rich with supple tannins and a smooth leisurely finish. Serve this alongside a grilled steak or a lamb stew for an incredible wine and food tasting experience.

In a pursuit to create delicious wine inspired by varieties that flourish in Paso Robles, The Pessimist is a blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Sourced and crafted by the DAOU Vineyards winemaking team, this wine demonstrates classic old world style with the fruit-forward characteristics of California.
