Following technical and commercial training at the Beaune Viticultural School, Bruno started to work with his parents and brother in 1993 at the family domaine Michel Colin-Deleger. In 2003, the mutual decision was taken to divide the family domaine into three separate entities :
Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger, Domaine Philippe Colin and Domaine Bruno Colin. Bruno created his first vintage in 2004.
Bruno crafts wines that offer a pure and simple expression of the terroir. With 22 appellations including eight Premiers Crus whites in Chassagne-Montrachet, Bruno seeks to reflect the unique personality of each terroir, all so close together yet all so different.
Tasting Notes
The wine is bright light yellow in the glass. Intensely fruity and expressive on the nose and equally generous on the palate. It is round and fleshy with aromas of yellow fruits such as peach, apricot and Mirabelle plum. A rich and indulgent wine with good texture that can be enjoyed in its youth but has the structure to develop further in bottle for those who prefer older white Burgundy.
Method
This village category wine is made from Chardonnay grapes sourced from 9 different plots; Puits Merdreaux, La Canotte, Les Beuttes, Voillenots, En Journoblot, Poirier du Clos, La Platière, Les Chênes and Les Benoites. The soils are clay-limestone in content and the vines were planted in various decades, the oldest being 1955 and the most recent planting 2005. The vines are cultivated sustainably, soils are worked mechanically and harvest is carried out by hand with manual selective sorting of the grapes after harvest before fermentation. The wine ages for 10 months in oak barrels (20 to 25% new oak).
