Domaine des Remiziere Hermitage 2015 (750ml)
Domaine des Remizières has been a family-owned and operated winery for three generations. Originally, the family managed 4 hectares of vineyards and part of the production was sold to a cooperative cellar. The estate has been vinifying all of their grapes since 1973, while expanding their vineyard holdings to 35 hectares. They practice organic grape growing and respect the biodiversity of the land. Each wine is seen as an expression of its growing environment. The diversity of soils in the many vineyard plots is taken into account when blending wines, as it brings complexity to the final wine. The vines are, on average, 40 years old and planted on granitic hillside soils, facing the south. Winemaking is traditional in temperature controlled closed tanks at 28-30°C for about 30 days. The wine then matures for 15 to 18 months in new oak barrels.
Rare and Fine 2019.
This is 100% Syrah from the Hermitage appellation, creating a deeply pigmented red wine with red fruit aromas that give way to spicy notes. The palate is full and tannic.
“Dark purple. Heady, smoke-tinged blueberry, cherry, vanilla and violet aromas show excellent clarity and a touch of olive. Sweet and broad in the mouth, offering deeply concentrated black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavours along with a suggestion of fruitcake. The impressively long, supple finish features bright minerally cut, an echo of sweet blue fruit and velvety tannins that come in late.” -93 pts, Vinous
