Domaine des Ronces is small family run winery in the southern part of the Jura region in France. It was was established in the municipality of Orbagna 1950 by Georges Mazier. In 1986 Michel Mazier took over the estate and today manages the 6 hectare property. In 2010 they converted the vineyards to organic practices and were certified biodynamic in 2014. In 2016 the third generation, Kevin Mazier, came on board. They grow the typical Jura white and red varietals.
Tasting Notes
The red wines of the Jura made from the Poulsard grape are often mistaken for rosés because they are so lightly pigmented. This is a fragrant, floral and fruit forward red; notes of wild berries, light spice, leather, orange peel and underbrush. The palate is delicate and refined showing a lovely balance of crunchy red fruit, wood bark, spice with medium to high acidity and fine grained tannins. The aromatics of Poulsard will continue to develop nicely in bottle over the next few years. Enjoy now or up to 5 years from the vintage. Serve with charcuterie, white meat or Comté cheese.
Method
Crafted from organic / biodynamically farmed Poulsard grapes grown on gravel soil. Poulsard is a thin skinned grape making pale coloured wines with delicate perfume in the Jura region. This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and ages for 12 months in stainless steel. The final wine finishes with a 10% alco
