Coming from a family of winemakers from Saint Laurent des Arbres, on the other side of the Rhône, Bernard Duseigneur took over the domaine in 2002. A investment banker by trade, Bernard worked with his father and brother in the Mediterranean before landing on the right bank of the Rhône in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where he continues to make wine today. Using biodynamic farming practices (certified), Bernard aims to use the different soil types (round pebbles, limestone, and sandstone, just to name a few) found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to really showcase the diversity and versatility of the Rhône. His plots are planted on North facing slopes, between the communes of Saint Laurent des Arbres and Saint Victor la Coste.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, persistent floral notes with blue and red fruits. On the palate, refreshing acidity and more fruit notes reminiscent of blueberry, cherry, and plum with a hint of spice are dominant. Pair with a variety of pork dishes, red meats, or game.
Method
Made from 100% Syrah, the grapes come from the Vaucluse region of southeast France. Biodynamic farming with low yields; average yield is about 30hl/ha. Fermented with natural yeasts, no added sulfites, semi-carbonic maceration in stainless steel tank (whole cluster). Aged in stainless steel.
