Husband and wife team, agronomist and oenologist Cedric, from the Auvergne and Catherine, from Beaujolais, came across an incredible property in Regnie-Durette, a lieu-dit of Beaujolais, and decided to take the plunge to pursue a family wine adventure.  The Capreoles Estate was created in July 2014. The 5.5 ha of vineyards are implanted like a garden around the buildings, enjoying an exceptional view of the two bell towers of the village.  The grow and produce a range of organic wines.

“The word ‘Capreoles’ comes from the Old French and means vine tendrils. We chose this name for all it symbolizes: the reference to History and Tradition, the natural support allowing vertical growth of the vine but also the idea of relationship we want to establish with those who appreciate our work.” – Cedric and Catherine, Domaine les Capréoles

Tasting Notes

On the nose, pronounced floral flavours and black fruit reminiscent of blueberry, black cherry. On the palate, its supple with red and dark fruit and added silky tannins. A classic pairing would be charcuterie or a cheese platter but this would do get with fattier, chicken dishes, too.

Made from 100% Gamay, the grapes are organically grown and come from the village of Lantignié; a tiny town, its surrounding vineyards are perched on the western hills of Beaujolais near Villié-Morgon and Beaujeu (the village from which the name “Beaujolais” is derived). Lantignié is considered one of the best of the of 38 villages allowed to attach their communal name to Beaujolais villages appellation.
