The Sichel family is a legend in Bordeaux, as longtime negociants, owners of prestigious wine estates and winemakers. About 30 years ago the late Peter Sichel, found a remote vineyard high up in the Corbières mountains in the most beautiful surroundings and with a unique stoney terroir. This is where the Albigensian Crusaders made martyrs out of the Cathars in the 13th century.
Today, Peter’s grandson Alexander Sichel lives there and makes the wines following biodynamic viticultural and vinification principles to the letter. This cuvée is the intense expression of the magical terroir of Domaine Peter Sichel located at the bottom of the picturesque village of Cucugnan.
Tasting Notes
Method
Altura 350 is Domaine Peter Sichel’s southern French red made of traditional varietals; Grenache, Syrah and Carignan grown in the remote Cucugnan valley appellation, a sub-region situated at an elevation of 350m within the greater Corbières region (hence the name “Altura 350”.) The higher altitude vineyards contribute to the freshness of the resulting wines.
