Durban Muscat Beaumes de Venise 375ml (375ml)
Beaumes de Venise
Domaine de Durband sits on the site of a former Roman healing spring overlooking the town of Beaumes de Venise on a plateau in the Vaucluse. Wine has been a part of this area’s culture for literally thousands of years. The picturesque vineyards are protected from the Mistral wind by pine trees, rich clay and limestone soils, high elevation for cooler temperatures and great sun exposure ensures ripe concentrated and complex fruit. The Leydiers are particularly proud of their Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise, a vin doux naturel, as they are among the last to craft it in the traditional style. Leydier’s old-fashioned vinification keeps the spirits as low as possible, so that they may hold on to the bright freshness in the grapes.
Beaumes de Venise is a sweet, fortified Muscat. This vin doux naturel is still crafted in a traditional style where there is less influence from the addition of the spirit and more of the natural fresh grape flavours come through. This one has a sweetly aromatic nose with notes of ripe pear and apricot that carries onto the palate.
