The Geantet-Pansiot Estate was founded in 1954 by Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot. It started out as a small 3 hectare parcel of vineyards. After having expanded the domain by gradually buying other vines, Edmond’s son Vincent joined the estate in 1977. Vincent Geantet is one of the most competent winemakers in Gevrey-Chambertin today.
Gevrey-Chambertin is a French wine commune, located 15km south of Dijon in the department of the Cote d’Or and the region of Burgundy. It is the most northerly of the well-known communes in Burgundy and the wines are typically well-structured. Domaine Geantet farms about 12 hectares of vineyards today in various appellations. Vincent’s son Fabien has since joined the team.
Tasting Notes
This is a graceful Pinot Noir showing aromatic purity of red fruit and flowers. The medium bodied palate has great concentration and texture. Notes of cherry and red plum, violet and spice. Pleasing and bright in the mouth with balanced acidity and fine grained well integrated tannins.
Method
Made from Pinot Noir grapes from Gevrey Chambertin appellation in the Cote de Nuits region. The vineyards are farmed lutte raisonée and the fruit is rigorously sorted before aging in 30% new oak. Bottled without fining or filtration.
