Viña Santa Rita was founded in 1880 by Don Domingo Fernández Concha, a leading businessman and public figure of the time.Don Domingo brought the finest French grape varieties to the rich soils of the Maipo Valley, together with specialized equipment and a team of top winemakers from France. This brought techniques that were hitherto unknown in Chile, changing the way in which wines were made in the country and bringing spectacular results.It makes a range of styles; from simple everyday drinking varietal wines to complex premium styles. The Gran Hacienda line offers excellent varietal character at an amazing value.
Tasting Notes
This is a classic crisp and refreshing white Sauvignon Blanc. Its fruity aroma of citrus blossoms and peaches is well balanced by delicate herbaceous undertones. Fruity and floral characteristics are enhanced by a pleasant acidity and a clean finish. Excellent as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish, as well as cheeses and fresh vegetables.
Method
The preferred time to harvest the grapes is at night, while the fruit is cool. The grapes are then destemmed, very gently crushed, and pressed immediately. The must obtained is protected against oxidation throughout the entire process. Fermentation takes place with very clean (decanted) musts and at low temperatures to ensure varietal typicity and maximum fresh-fruit aromas. There is no oak used on this wine so the result is an easy drinking crisp and fresh in style sauvignon blanc.
