Humberto Canale winery is located just 8 km from the city of General Roca. The property extends over an area of 640 hectares of vines and fruit trees, of which 160 are planted to vines. Founded in 1909, the winery played a key role in the development of viticulture in the Patagonian region. Today, with more than 110 years of experience and five generations later, Humberto Canale winery combines artisan wisdom with the most modern elaboration techniques, which is reflected in the elegance of their Argentinian Patagonian wines.
“Patagonia is synonymous of mountains, lakes, desert, glaciers, land of dinosaurs, magic, purity and also elegant and sophisticated wines.”
Guillermo Barzi Canale
Tasting Notes
Intense red color with a purple tinge. The nose shows pronounced wild berries; such as cassis, raspberries and prunes combined with hints of mint. The notes are found as flavour on the palate. The wine is fruit forward, dry, with ripe tannins and a smooth velvety structure. Enjoy with red and white meats, game, firm aged cheese.
Method
This is 100% Malbec from vineyards located in General Roca, Alto Valle del Río Negro, Patagonia. The grapes are handpicked and undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration for 48-72 hours followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 25° to 27°C in 9.000-liter concrete vats, for a 12-day period, with periodical use of rackings. Once the malolactic fermentation has finished, the wine is aged until the bottling phase, after which the wine rests another 3 months before its release.
