It started over a hundred years ago when Anton Jermann, following his instincts, left his homeland in Burgenland, Austria. His heart led him first to Slovenia in search of vines, but eventually across the Italian border to Friuli-Venezia Giulia.  The Jermann winery was established in 1881 by Anton who is the great-grandfather of the current proprietor and winemaker, Silvio Jermann.

Silvio is lauded for his role in bringing quality wines from Friuli to the forefront of Italian winemaking.  Today the winery produces more than 16 labels from almost 420 acres of vineyards.  Silvio Jermann is widely considered the winemaker most representative of Friuli Venezia Giulia.  He crafts quality wines year after year with innovation, deep pride for his heritage and respect for his predecessors and wholly concentrated on the end result of making exceptional wine.

Tasting Notes

Fine ruby red colour with a heady and slightly herbaceous aroma.  The Pinot Nero variety stands out with elegant finesse.  The palate is delicate, elegant, and concentrated with sweet ripe fruit and balanced acidity.  Pair with mushroom risotto, baked salmon, roast chicken.

100% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) from the Friuli, Farra d’Isonzo, Lucinico, Dolegna del Collio appellations.  The wine ages for 14 months in second and third-use French Oak (300L) after fermentation.
