La Baronne Cayrelieres Grenache (750ml)
The Ligneres family is bringing much needed attention to the Languedoc of southern France. The story is an unexpected one. Both the husband and wife have a background in medicine, and like many other traditional winemakers have wine running through their veins. Andre is a general practitioner and Suzette is a pharmacist. Together with their children, they manage La Baronne estate. The family is very much hands-on—they utilize dry-farming, hand harvesting, and have been certified organic and biodynamic.
Dark fruit, blackberry and cherry on the nose and palate. Full bodied, round with medium acidity and soft tannins, some spice and earthy notes compliment the plush fruit with a mineral vein throughout.
The “Cayreliéres” is a low intervention made wine. It is unfined, unfiltered, and no sulphites have been added. The Grenache grapes are from the plot of the same name located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
