Alleu is situated in the Monsant area in the province of Tarragona (Catalonia) surrounding the DOQ Priorat.  The wines, mostly reds, are typically made with Garnacha and Carinena grapes and are authentic, wild and artisanal. Wines produced in this region are usually extremely good value given the high quality.

Tasting Notes

L’ Alleu Vinyes Velles is a concentrated, powerful and elegant red wine.   It is a blend of Garnacha and Carinena; the grapes come from vines between 40 to 80 years old. Planted in calcareous-clay and fine slate soils which are typical in the Monsant area.  The grapes are vinified seperately and macerate for 20-30 days before ageing for 10 month sin French oak barrels.  On the nose, it is sweet, with ripe red fruit and a toasted touch from the ageing. In the mouth, it is powerful, with amplitude, and a long and persistent finish.
