Chateau Les Bugadelles Le Bergerie Rosé (750ml)
Chateau Les Bugadelles is located in the South of France, in the La Clape uplands in the heart of Languedoc, between Narbonne and the Mediterranean. Jean-Claude Albert and his family bought the estate in 2004 and has since then breathed new life into it. Abandoned for over a century, the 400 hectares of scrubland or garrigue had become overrun by kermes oak and wild boar. Driven by a commitment to excellence, the family identified the finest terroirs and prepared the land to plant vines as well as olive groves, truffle oaks and fruit trees.
The soils are mainly limestone with some sandstone, red clay and shale. The estate’s virgin soils and the strong incentive to respect the environment and produce authentic, idiosyncratic wines have been naturally conducive to going down the organic route. Only the natural products and viticultural techniques permitted for organic wine growing are used in this unspoilt wilderness. Here, the sheep take care of the weeds and provide the finest organic manure for this beautiful vineyard. Ewes are also beneficial to the garrigue because they aerate the soils and protect against forest fires. Les Bugadelles goes well beyond the basic prerequisites for organic, reverting to ancient farming wisdom whilst simultaneously using cutting edge technology.
Domaine Les Bugadelles is certified organic. Their signature style is top Mediterranean wines that are distinctive, refined, dense and fresh. They are also extremely palatable. The whites contain very few sulphites, a feature which loyal customers appreciate because it ensures they keep a clear head after a meal.
