Lightfoot & Wolfville Ancienne Chenin Blanc (750ml)
This family-owned winery in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley is dedicated to certified organic and biodynamic agriculture alongside Old World winemaking techniques.
The 2017 growing season was fairly warm and dry, allowing the one-acre of estate Chenin Blanc to reach the ripeness (23.8° Brix) and stringent quality level necessary for the Ancienne series for the first time.
All grapes for this wine were hand-harvested from the Oak Island Vineyard in Avonport, Nova Scotia, hand-sorted and whole cluster pressed to yield the highest quality juice. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tank followed by 18- months aging sur lie in old/neutral French oak barrels. This wine is certified Organic by Ecocert.
Medium straw gold in colour. The nose is quite exuberant with melon, ripe apple, honeysuckle, nutmeg and wet wool notes. Around and balanced mid-palate leads the way for an impactful, full-flavoured finish. Pair with richer seafood, poultry or pork and root vegetables, or semi-firm cow’s milk cheeses.
