Lightfoot & Wolfville is owned and operated by the Lightfoot family who have been farming in the Annapolis Valley for eight generations. Lightfoot & Wolfville brings a light touch and enlightened approach to both the agricultural and artisanal aspects of viticulture and winemaking. They work in harmony with nature and letting the land offer up its innate best, without subjecting it to aggressive inputs. The winery is located on the home farm site, this land has been in Michael’s family for four generations.
A pale, yet luminous gold in the glass. On the nose, green apple, white blossom and honeyed citrus notes. The lively green fruit carries over to the palate with mouthwatering, textured acidity, salinity and a hint of sweetness, providing a balanced, perceptually dry finish. Enjoyable on its own as a refreshing summertime white or paired with green salads, cheese sauces and seafood – especially oysters, seafood chowder and shrimp rolls.
At the heart of every great wine region is an emblematic style that helps define what the region does best. Nova Scotia is blessed with an incredibly unique, coastal influenced terroir and cool climate that imparts a distinctive freshness and vibrancy in our wines. To showcase this, an official appellation – “Tidal Bay” – was created in 2012. The structure of this system is based on well-established European appellations, such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vinho Verde, Soave, and Chianti, designed to help protect and promote the quality regional wines they represent. Strict viticultural and winemaking standards are regulated by an independent tasting panel.
The Lightfoot & Wolfville 2021 Tidal Bay is composed of 50% L’Acadie Blanc, 28% Chardonnay, 10% Riesling, 7% Scheurebe, 5% Geisenheim 318. 10% abv. 8 g/L RS. Certifed organic by Ecocert.
