After a decision to change careers and enter the wine world the Meyers spent three years searching for the perfect vineyard site in the Okanagan Valley. In 2006 they purchased a small 1.62 hectare vineyard on the Naramata Bench, and in 2008 purchased another 6.9 hectares in Okanagan Falls. Working with the best winemaker and viticulturists they focus on crafting small lot single vineyard wines.
The Reimer Estate Vineyard is planted entirely with a mix of French Pommard and Dijon clones of PInot Noir. It is located in South East Kelowna, British Columbia on a moderately steep slope facing north west. The soil is made up of alluvial and windblown deposits, silt loam and gravel loam. The 2012 vintage was an exceptional vintage in the Okanagan Valley. The fruit was gently de-stemmed and 15% left whole cluster before undergoing a cold soak in open top fermenters followed by inoculation with a mix of cultured and indigenous yeasts. The wine was then aged for 10 months in French oak barrels (33% new). Recently written up and reviewed by Steven Spurrier receiving a fantastic 17.5 Points (91 Points)! “Very good colour, darker yet not over-extracted, very good black fruits nose, velvety texture, more vigourous and more depth and a touch of spice, a really good Pinot Noir, quite lush fruit but fine firm tannins, very expressive and impressive.” Only 318 cases produced!
