Franciacorta is nestled into the foothills of the alps, on the south side of Lake Iseo, in the Lombardy region of Italy. Franciacorta is Italy’s premium traditional method sparkling wine- think Champagne with an Italian flair!

Il Mosnel winery is a historic Franciacorta producer; run by the Barboglio family since the early 1800s.

Tasting Notes

The Mosnel Brut has been produced since 1979 and is a house favourite. It is a blend of 40% Pinot Nero, 40% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Bianco.

It has a subtle, delicate bouquet that the bubbles carry out of the glass. It is crisp and dry on the palate with an elegant, smooth texture and is impressively balanced with a long-lasting mousse and extremely tiny bubbles. A lovely choice as an apéritif, Il Mosnel Brut is also ideally suited to pairing with a wide range of fish, vegetable, and white meat dishes.

80% of the wine is vinified and rests in stainless steel tanks, while 20% sees large oak barrels. After a minimum of 18 months aging sur lie, the wine, produced in the méthode traditionelle, is disgorged and then aged for another 24 months in bottle before release.
