The winery and vineyards of Nada Giuseppe are situated in Treiso, one of  the four communes in the Barbaresco appellation.  The estate farms 9 hectares of organic vineyards and include the well renown cru vineyards Casot and Marcarini.   In 1964 before the Barbaresco DOCG was officially recognized in 1966, the winery transitioned from selling its bulk wine to estate bottling.  Since 2008 the winery has been run by Giuseppe and Nella Nada and their children Barbara and Enrico.  Their elegant and refined wines are viewed by their consumers as being extremely representative of the territory.  They are traditionalists in that they do not use barriques or new wood that would heavily influence the wine; rather they utilize untoasted Slavonian and Allier oak for their large barrels and vats which they maintain well so they can be used for decades.

Tasting Notes

Pale brick red in the glass; a classic color for the Nebbiolo grape, which does not produce a deeply pigmented wine.  The nose has those pleasing floral and sweet cherry notes one expects from Barbaresco making you want to close your eyes and breath in the wine as it opens up with time in the glass.  Violets, rose petals and light spicy notes come through.  The palate is medium bodied, the fruit is always present, flanked by spices, flowers and balsamic notes with fresh acidity and fine grained tannins. Enjoy this with a plate of meat or cheese filled pasta, grilled beef, roasted vegetables, Gorgonzola dolce.

Made from certified organic Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Casot cru.  Pressing and alcoholic fermentation with natural yeasts without added sulphites. Fermentation at a temperature of 30-32 ° C to facilitate the extraction of tannins and anthocyanins. Continuation of maceration with the submerged cap technique for 40-50 days.  Racking with some decanting to eliminate the natural sediments.  The wine then ages in barrels of 1,000 / 3,000 / 4,000 liters for 18-20 months followed by another 7-8 months in the bottle.

Wow, this was a find. Find a comfy chair and fireplace, aerate, wait a few mins, breathe. Hummm! Big aromatics – orange zest, rose, eucalyptus and new tennis balls. Smooth on the palate, wonderful mouth feel, and a long finish. Going back for more. Thanks Tristan!

Great buy! Let this wine breathe in the bottle and develop in the glass. On the nose hints of red fruit, grapefruit rind, dried rosemary and limestone. This is a well structured wine whose aromatics reflect well on the palate, with just a touch of oak complimented by firm tannins with a solid finish.
