Presqu’ile (‘press-keel’) is a family-owned winery in the Santa Maria Valley dedicated to crafting exceptional, cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah from Santa Barbara County.  Santa Maria Valley is an American Viticultural Area which straddles the boundary of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties in California’s multi-county Central Coast AVA.

The Presqu’ile Vineyard is located just 16 miles from the Pacific Ocean, and is dedicated to 73 acres of vines.  The vineyard is planted to three different types of rootstock, as well as own-rooted vines. Soaring elevations of 700 to 1,000 feet bring a diverse array of exposures to the vineyard, which adds to the uniqueness of the different blocks. The vineyard is dominated by deep sandy soils, which retain heat and provide a well-draining environment for the vines to thrive.

Tasting Notes

A hallmark Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley.  Balance, complexity that combines fruit, earth and the ever-present “Santa Maria spice”. This wine offers early enjoyment without lacking the bones to age.

Method

Produced using both estate fruit and high quality fruit from select vineyard sites across the Santa Maria Valley and Santa Rita Hills. Presqu’ile aims to capture the true essence of its vineyards, vintages, and unique senses of place.  11 months neutral French Oak and 6 months stainless steel.
