San Leonardo Terre di San Leonardo (750ml)
Trentino Alto Adige
More than 1000 years ago, the San Leonardo Estate was a monastery, but for over three centuries now San Leonardo has served as the residence of the Marchesi Guerrieri Gonzaga family, its proud custodians. Today, the San Leonardo estate is a garden of vineyards and roses, protected by the massive barrier of the Alps, which blunt the force of the cold northern winds while the valley floor benefits from, and in turn releases, warmth from nearby Lake Garda. The tenuta remains an antique world, in which winemaking practices, still uncompromisingly artisanal, yield wines that are true gems of Italy’s wine tradition, marked by freshness, harmony, and an innate elegance. San Leonardo is among the elite of the Trentino vineyards and specializes in Bordeaux varietals.
Pronounced dark fruit mingles with herbs and light toast notes. Medium bodied, medium to high acidity and supple tannins. An elegant and refined Bordeaux blend that is authentically Northern Italian in style with it’s freshness, purity of fruit and food compatibility. Enjoy this with roast meats, pasta dishes, mushroom risotto and firm cheeses.
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Carmenère. The wine undergoes a spontaneous fermentation and 15-18 days maceration in small concrete vats with periodic pumpovers and délestage. The wine then rests in a combination of 80% concrete vats and 20% French oak barrels for a period of time before being bottled.
