Podere Giardino makes Suoli Cataldi wines.  It is an organic farm and winery in Villa Roncadella, a small village nestled in the countryside of Reggio Emilia, Emilia Romagna.  They produce milk, Parmigiano-Reggiano and Lambrusco wine.  Today, the fourth generation of the Crotti family works with a respect for their land to create quality and authentic food products from their land.

Tasting Notes

Yellow gold with a lively and persistent bubble.  Lots of citrus on the nose and palate, orange and pink grapefruit, white flowers.  Light and fresh and fully dry on the palate.  Enjoy as an aperitif as they would in Emilia Romagna with the local prosciutto di Parma.

This is a white sparkling wine made in the ancestral method of refermenting the wine in bottle so it still contains the yeast sediment.  This “petillant natural” is made from the organic Malvasia di Candia Aromactica variety, the best clone of Malvasia grown on sandy clay soils.  The producer refers to this wine as an “extreme wine” in that it is made with no added yeasts (only ambient wild yeast), no filtration and no sulfur.
