Tasting Notes

A ripe, dense red that shows notes of cherry, red berries, earth and spice.  The same flavours carry onto the plush palate.  With its dense fruit, lower tannins and gentle acidity this makes for a smooth and easy drinking red.  Pair with  eggplant Parmigiana, pasta Bolognese, grilled vegetables or a lamb curry.

Method

The name of this Primitivo Salento IGP, 7° Ceppo, represents the seventh generation of winemakers of the Taurino family.  The wine is made from old bush vine Primitivo (about 70 years old!) from the Manduria area of  A ripe, dense red that shows elements of cherry, red berries, and earth, with lower tannins and gentle acidity.  The grapes are hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel.  The wine sees no oak ageing but undergoes malolactic fermentation and is fined before bottling.
