The Tequila Ocho story begins with the Camarena family, who started making tequila in 1937 and are now in their third generation as tequila producers. This family is one of the few that still make tequila in the slow, artisanal way. With the Camarenas nothing is rushed or hurried during the whole process, from the growth of the agave to the final distillation.
All tequila made by the Camarena family is produced exclusively from agave from their own fields, a fact that few other producers can claim. Because the production is small-batch and carefully done, the heart and passion of the Camarenas’ Mexican soul is in each drop of their tequila. The family have only ever made 100% agave tequila
Tasting Notes
Light straw color with brilliant clarity. Strong broad floral presence with sweet cooked agave, oak notes of vanilla, tapenade, custard and stewed orchard fruits. Ripe agave followed by balanced fruit and acidity. There is a subtle oak presence that continues onto finish with soft tannin notes and a smooth agave sweetness that lingers.
Method
Aged in ex-American Whiskey barrels for 8 weeks and 8 days. Made with 100% Blue Agave. One of the few tequilas still made slowly in the old fashioned way, Tequila Ocho is a fine quality spirit which accentuates that which is exclusive to tequila, the agave flavor. Ocho is the first tequila to designate both the year it was produced and the precise field from which the family grown agaves were sourced. Each batch comes from a different field or rancho contributing distinctive characteristics of that place.
