Franco, the winery’s current owner, is a modern wine man who tends his vines with old-fashioned skill. He transformed the Toròs estate and nursed it to its present influential status. A self-effacing grower who enjoys silence and the company of his vines, Franco can usually be found among the rows, tending his beloved plants. The estate is located in the Collio Friulano, located in the extreme north-east of Italy and straddling both Italy and Slovenia. The seamless succession of hills forms broad slopes with superb exposure to sunlight. This terroir is ideal for producing premium wine; breezes, enough temperature variation, special soils. The Julian Alps protect the vines from cold northerly winds while a short distance to the south, the Adriatic Sea helps to temper the temperature swings. Together, they create the climate of mild winters and fairly cool summers that is essential if the vines are to develop to perfection.

Tasting Notes

The Pinot Bianco is an intense straw yellow in the glass with pronounced aromas of freshly baked bread. The well structured palate is full, flavourful and pleasantly dry. Enjoy this with seafood risotto and even those hard to pair quiches and vegetable soups and stews.
