Vinas Vetusta is a family run vineyard and winery in Ribera del Duero practicing certified organic farming. The vineyards are located in the municipality of Fuentenebro (Burgos) in two unique sites. One site, the “Forest” , is characterized by a soil in which predominates the large boulder and red clay subsoil and is located 960 meters above sea level. The second local is the “Carrascalon” whose terroir consists of the characteristic red clay soil of the area and its special height, 1000 meters above sea level
Tasting Notes
Vibrant purple, violet in the glass. The aromas are fruit forward; ripe red cherry and light violet notes. The tannins are supple and refined on the palate with primary fruit dominating and a fresh balanced acidity.
Method
Tempranillo grapes are hand harvested and brought quickly into the winery. Fermentation and maceration in temperature controlled tanks to preserve aromatics. The wine is then aged for two months in concrete tank followed by 225 l French oak (80%) and American (20%) barrels for 6 months.
