Dating as far back as 1661, this estate has been in the Fleith family for eleven generations. In 1973, René Fleith built a brand new estate which comprises approximately 10 ha, spread out over four terroirs in Alsace, France: the Steinweg, the Dorfburg, the Letzenberg and the Grand Cru Furstentum. Vincent Fleith took the reins of the estate in 1996, implementing biodynamic farming practices (Ecocert and Demeter certified) in 1999. Vincent is committed to Alsace, having only ever left to work in the wine industries of California, Australia, and Beaujolais.

All of their wines are aged on their lees for a minimum of 12 months and aged in bottling for at least 6 months prior to release. Producing both dry and sweet wines, Fleith’s range is everything you want for the region; Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, and Cremant d’Alsace.

Tasting Notes

In the glass, the wine pours a pale hue with fine bubbles. On the nose, pronounced aromas of stone fruit- think peach and nectarine, as well as a slight floral lift. On the palate, those stone fruit notes come through with some added fresh baked brioche, balanced with some zippy acidity. Use as an aperitif, pair alongside a diverse cheese spread, or pair with your favourite seafood dish.

Method

Made from a blend of Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Riesling, this sparkling is a categorized as Crémant d’Alsace AOC and is a Brut Nature; no dosage (sweetening juice added).  Second fermentation occurs and the wine is required to age for a minimum of one year, including 9 months on the lees in bottle to acquire its tiny bubbles and added aromatic and textural complexity. No sulfur added.

Fun and easy drinking. The grape blend is an interesting one producing wonderful aromatics of Turkish delight, marzipan, and honeyed tangerine on the nose. Light on the palate with fresh acidity makes it easy to drink on its own. Love the lack of dosage and biodynamic viticulture. Great value.
