Zenato is a historic and well respected name in Northern Italy’s Valpolicella region. Sergio Zenato started the winery in 1960 and today the family tradition in winemaking is carried on by his children Alberto and Nadia. The estate produces a range of white and red wines, however, its Amarone wines are the most complex and powerful that develop amazingly with time.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant yellow in the glass. This wine delivers intense layers of aromas, floral and citrus notes, spices, white plum, and vanilla. On the palate, it is rich in flavour, with great depth and balance. An ideal white for aging.
Method
The history of Lugana Riserva dates back to 1993 when Sergio first understood the potential of the Trebbiano di Lugana grape. The Reserva embodies his innovative and foresight spirit, as well as the courage to propose the Lugana in a renewed style. This is Zenato’s flagship wine made from 100% Trebbiano di Lugana. The fermentation takes place at around 70% in 50 hectolitre oak casks and 300 litre tonneaux and 30% in steel. Ageing follows for around 6 months in barrels and 12 months in the bottle before being put on the market.
