Borgo Scopeto Chianti Classico 375ml

In 1997, the Borgo Scopeto estate was sold to Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini and Alessandra Angelini, it was their first wine purchase in Tuscany. In 1999, Elisabetta purchased more land in Morellino di Scansano DOCG where she planted vines for Doga delle Clavule; two other estates- Caparzo and Altesino of Montalcino, were both purchased in 2002 and 2003, respectively. Borgo Scopeto covers 503 ha in Castelnuovo Berardenga- 6 ha are dedicated to the buildings of the Borgo and 350 ha are woodlands; 70 ha are vineyards and 50 ha are planted with olive trees. Within their vineyard plantings, 40 ha are Chianti in Classico with plantings of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot.

The Sozzini family, which kept the property until the mid-nineteenth century (it dates back to around 1000, though), developed the estate’s wine program to a certain extent but it wasn’t until more recently that Borgo Scopeto improved the quality and begin to bottle its own wines. 1990’s vintage was the first time “Chianti Classico” and Borgo Scopeto appeared on the same label.

Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino

Caparzo was established towards the end of the 1960’s. The vineyards of the Caparzo Estate include about. 90 hectares (210 acres) in Montalcino. The estate is located on a hillside area 220 metres above sea level, facing south and south-east. The company has grown and adapted with the times all while maintaining and respecting the traditions of the terroir. The rustic and elegant Caparzo villa, La Casa, located at the bottom of Montalcino is available for rent for those who want to fully experience the beauty and tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside. The origins of the place named Caparzo are still unknown and according to some, the name is derived, as shown by ancient maps, from Ca’ Pazzo. However, some say the term should derive from the Latin Caput Arsum, indicating “a place touched by sun.”

Gnarly Head Zinfandel

Gnarly Head wines began with a vision and a vine. In 2004, on a mission to make a serious Zinfandel, their winemakers journeyed to Lodi in central California in search of old vine Zinfandel vineyards. Grown in the head-trained, spur-pruned method for over a century, these vigorous gnarled vines produced more ripened red fruit than they had ever seen. They took it as a challenge to create the biggest, boldest Zinfandel they had ever made. The result was authentic, structured wines. The winery selects grapes from some of the best vineyards in Northern California to produce wines in the Gnarly house style- big and juicy.

Luxardo Maraschino

Luxardo is a family-owned company founded in Zara, a port city on the Dalmatian coast of what is now Croatia. Girolamo Luxardo, a Genovese businessman, and his wife, Maria Canevari, moved to Zara in 1817. It was Maria who began perfecting “rosolio maraschino,” a liqueur produced in Dalmatian convents since medieval times from special maraschino cherries. In 1913, Michelangelo Luxardo built the most modern and massive distillery in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but it was destroyed in World War II by Anglo-American bombings. Only one member of the fourth generation, Giorgio Luxardo, survived the World War II invasion and fled to Italy. Escaping with only a cherry sapling, Giorgio crossed the Adriatic Sea to the Veneto region of northeast Italy and reconnected with a colleague who had saved the Luxardo recipe book. Armed with the surviving tools and a desire to reestablish his family’s legacy, Giorgio chose the small Veneto city of Torreglia to rebuild the distillery in 1946. At this new home, Luxardo restored its extensive product line of Italian liqueurs and continued to export the products to markets around the world. Luxardo continues to produce Maraschino to Maria Canevari’s original recipe, as it was written down in 1821. Today, Luxardo is operated by Franco Luxardo of the family’s fifth generation, along with members of the sixth.

Romate Amontillado Sherry

Romate is a family run house that has been producing fine Sherry (Jerez) since 1781. The production process for Sherry is a long and relatively complicated one with many steps in which Romate combines traditional and modern techniques in order to create a consistent quality product.
