Chateau Ferran Rouge

Chateau Ferran dates back to the 18th century.  It was once owned by Robert de Ferran, solicitor at the Bordeaux Parliament, who gave his name to this exceptional vineyard, and later to the French judge and political philosopher known as Montesquieu.  Since 1999 Philippe and Ghislane Lacoste, have been managing the estate. A lot of work has been done in recent years to restructure the vineyard and renovate the cellars which has quickly resulted in
numerous medals and good scores given by French, British and Amercian wine writers, particularly during the futures tastings.

Chateau Lynch Moussas 5th Growth

Chateau Lynch Moussas was originally owned by Count Jean-Baptiste Lynch of Ireland in the 18th century. At the time, the estate was much larger than it is today.  This left bank estate was so large in those days, it was eventually divided into two parts; half of the estate gave birth to Chateau Lynch Bages and the remaining portion took the name Chateau Lynch Moussas.  The estate has been owned and managed by the prominent Casteja family who own and operate other Bordeaux estates. 

The estate covers about 60 hectares in the Pauillac appellation and is planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot.  It is one of the few classified left bank appellations planted with only two grape varietals.

Champagne Andre Clouet 1911

The Champagne house of Andre Clouet dates back to 1741.   Today, Clouet farms about 20 acres of vines, mostly in Bouzy, which is the most famous Grand Cru village in Champagne for Pinot Noir.  Winemaker Jean-Francois Clouet crafts the 1911 Champagne by blending older reserve wines.  

Once upon a time, a few precious bottles were hidden away in a small cellar for more than 80 years. By a stroke of luck they were found and became the inspiration for a champagne tribute to the Golden Age the Clouet house calls  “One day in 1911”.

Chateau Siaurac

Chateau Siaurac is a stunning estate in Lalande de Pomerol dating back to 1850.  Today the estate is owned by the Artemis group (owners of Chateau Latour amoung other prestigious global wine estates).  Chateau Siaurac boasts almost 37 hectares of vineyards planted to 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec.  The terroir is gravel and clay.  The vineyards have been managed sustainably since the 2008 vintage and as of the 2016 have converted to full organic and biodynamic farming techniques.

Feudo di Santa Tresa Frappato

Feudo di Santa Tresa estate has around 123 acres of vineyards in the historical vine growing region of Vittoria.  Lying close to the Mediterranean, Feudo di Santa Tresa’s vineyards benefit from cooling sea breezes. The estate’s soil consists of a layer of light, red, sandy loam (terra rossa) resting on top of a limestone base, which helps retain vital water. In order to preserve this rich terroir, only natural techniques are used to assist cultivation. While the abundant wind and scarce rainfall naturally protect against pest, infestations are further prevented through limited copper and sulfur treatments.  In addition, only natural fertilizers are used to avoid introducing chemicals into the topsoil. Undersoil irrigation is utilized to prevent evaporation, thereby maximizing water efficiency.

Folly of the Beast Pinot Noir

Folly of the Beast is the result of a winemaker’s quest to make good Pinot Noir with a price tag that doesn’t make you want to weep. Folly of the Beast is named after the great Moby Dick quote “For there is no folly of the beast of the earth that is not infinitely outdone by the madness of men.” It’s Winc’s mission (and madness) to consistently deliver great Pinot at an affordable price. Folly of the Beast wines are made by Winc. Winc’s story bagan in 2012 under another name: Club W. Club W was the world’s first personalized wine club. It made the process of discovering and buying wine easier than ever; eventually this club expanded to other facets of the wine experience.

Winc sources its grapes from many destinations, but it remains connected to every aspect of the winemaking process. Saint Jean du Barroux La Source

Le Barroux is a small Provencal town located in the heart of the Vaucluse. Its twelfth century castle overhangs the stone-built village houses and picturesque alleys. In between the two famous mountains, the Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail, le Barroux is renowned as being an excellent tourist site, providing a magnificent view point. Nature surrounds the village, forests and fruit trees, intermingled with vines which paint a varying landscape of changing colors. The estate vineyards extend over 15 ha of the hillside, at an elevation of between 300 to 400 meters. It consists of 11 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of fruit trees and forest, on alternating terraces and slopes. 

Phillip Gimel is the winemaker of the Saint Jean du Barroux wines.  His wines express the terroir of the lower slopes of the famous Mont Ventoux near the road between Le Barroux and the Roman town of Vaison la Romaine. The talented Philippe keeps his yields very low in order to concentrate fruit flavour and de-stems every hand picked bunch. A lot of attention and care goes into crafting these wines and this results in wines that are pure with fine tannins and lots of flavour.

Meyer Okanagan Chardonnay

Meyer Family Vineyards has been crafting premium wines in the Okanagan Valley since 2006, specializing in single vineyard expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

After a decision to change careers and enter the wine world the Meyers spent three years searching for the perfect vineyard site in the Okanagan Valley. In 2006 they purchased a small 1.62 hectare vineyard on the Naramata Bench, and in 2008 purchased another 6.9 hectares in Okanagan Falls. Working with the best winemaker and viticulturists they focus on crafting small lot single vineyard wines.

Meyer focuses on producing wines that reflect the vineyard of origin, what the French call terroir. The grapes are hand harvested from two main vineyards, Old Main Road on the Naramata Bench and McLean Creek Road in Okanagan Falls. Winemaker, Chris Carson brings a wealth of experience from time spent working for top wine producers in New Zealand, Burgundy and California. 2012 is considered to be a stellar vintage in the Okanagan Valley.

Petite Selve Red

Chateau de la Selve is located in the Ardèche region, between Northern and Southern Rhône. There are many producers in this area growing organic and practicing biodynamics in the vineyard and winery including Château de la Selve. The vineyards are situated on the banks of the Chassezac river, the most important tributary of the Ardèche. The soil consists of very chalky clay. In 1990, Chàteau de la Selve was bought by Jean-Régis and Magdeleine Chazollon. As their son Benoît took over the winemaking in 2002 at which time, the vineyard also turned biodynamic. Beautifully clean and pure wines are being produced at the domaine, that celebrate the unique terroir of the region.

Rolly Gassmann Riesling

Marie-Therese and Louis Rolly Gassmann, along with their son Pierre, create wines that are legendary throughout France and Europe. In 1997 they added a biodynamic philosophy to their traditional ongoing approach of minimal interference with the vines, rigorous selection of grapes, and the most careful handling of both harvest and vinification. These techniques lead to the production of wines of the highest quality. Rolly-Gassmann has a unique style, whereas all wines have a certain velvety sweetness. It is only as wines are tasted and deemed appropriately aged that the wines are released to the market, sometimes as many as 20 years after bottling.

Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel

Seghesio Family Vineyards is a historically significant winery in Sonoma County. Italian immigrant, Edoardo Seghesio, planted his first Zinfandel vines in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley in 1895. Sepp Moser founded today’s estate in 1987 with vineyards in the Austrian wine-growing areas Kremstal and Neusiedlersee. He ambitiously dedicated himself to creating exquisite wines full of character from best sites.

Sepp’s son Nikolaus took over the estate in 2000- quickly becoming one of the first wine-growers in Austria to convert his vineyards to biodynamics.

Dolin Sas Bonal Vermouth

Dolin is one of the last independent vermouth producers and still follows the basic recipes from 1821. Chambery is the only controlled appellation in France for the production of vermouth and Dolin is the last producer of Vermouth de Chambery. There is truly nothing else quite like it. The Dolin vermouths remain much closer to the delicate base ingredients from which they are made and are more akin to fine wine than the grocery store vermouths most of us are used to. Many people are skeptical about vermouth having never tasted a traditional hand-crafted expression before. There is only one thing you can do: try it!

Jinro 24 Soju

Soju is a very popular spirit sold in Korea that is traditionally made by distilling rice and other cereal grains. However, since the 1960s to alleviate rice shortages, most soju has been produced by diluting high strength neutral alcohol from distilled sweet potatoes or tapioca.
