Gabbiano Chianti (750ml)

Castello di Gabbiano is an historic winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico.  The first historical references to Gabbiano dates from the 11th century, when work began on the square tower, which was built to defend one of the most important communication routes between Florence and Siena.  The construction of the cellars, whose vaulted structure demonstrates their use for wine production, began in 1124. In that epoch, the castle belonged to one of the most important banking families of Florence, the Bardi.  Today Castello di Gabbiano is an important part of the Chianti Classico landscape and local wine tourism.  It is a thriving estate with 147 hectares of vines planted on clay limestone soil.  It has two of the best and highly trained viticulturalist and enologist in the country overseeing their production and this shows in the consistency and quality of their Sangiovese based wines.
