Founded by Allan and Catherine Scott, the couple began as contract growers in the famous Marlborough region of New Zealand, purchasing a small block of land in 1975. In 1990, after the independent winemakers movement started to emerge all across the country, Allan and Catherine launched Allan Scott Wines; with Allan’s experience working the vineyards at Brancott Estate (formerly Montana Wines), a stint at Corbans Wines as a Senior Viticultural Manager, and Catherine’s eye for detail and refined palette, the two were well-positioned to dive head-first into their own production.
Today, the winery is still a family business- Allan and Catherine’s children Sara and Josh assume control of the company, heading up production, management, and development with a highly-skilled operational team. With the original focus on high-quality fruit and limited volumes of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir, the winery has expanded to include the production of sparkling wine as well as the addition of their Scott Base Vineyard in Central Otago.
Tasting Notes
Fresh, zesty, juicy ,and fruit forward. This fruit-driven new world style wine will excite the senses without the racy overload. Mouthwatering acidity, fresh herbal notes of lemon verbena, thyme, key lime, lemon, pineapple and tangerine and a dry finish. A crisp refreshing wine, that shows the true terroir characters of the soils and area it comes from.
Method
The grapes are machine harvested and immediately pressed in the cool of the night. The juice is maintained at cool temperatures to ensure the aromatics are not lost. Cleared juice is then fermented to dryness at cool temperatures with specifically selected yeasts. We then selected the pick of the tanks for blending into a wonderful fresh expression for bottling.
