GAJA
Piedmont’s crown jewel.
Located in Piedmont, Italy, GAJA is one of the world’s most renowned wineries, known for its collectible wines and commitment to excellence. Angelo Gaja revolutionized the region by introducing single-vineyard wines, Bordeaux varietals, and barriques, helping elevate Barbaresco and Italian wines globally.

Since 1972, Roberto Bellini developed the Pieve Santa Restituta estate into a promising winegrowing property. In 1994, renowned winemaker Angelo Gaja became a partner, eventually taking full ownership of the estate in Montalcino. The estate is named after a 17th-century church restored by the Gaja family.
Gaja invested heavily in replanting vineyards at higher density and updating the underground cellar. The estate produces two Brunellos—Sugarille and Rennina—on 16 hectares of limestone and clay soil, ideal for Sangiovese grapes. The winery, integrated into the existing cellar, follows a classic winemaking style focused on tannin development, acidity, and elegance, with Gaja’s daughter Gaia also involved.

“Intense aromas of candied citrus fruit, ripe peach and some green notes keeping the tropical fruit in check. There is a sea breeze quality hovering in the background. The palate echos the citrus and lush stone fruit from the nose, there is slight roundness midpalate, salinity and minerality and fresh green edge that keeps the wine lively and refreshing. Excellent concentration and terroir driven wine. Enjoy with seafood, sushi, salads.”

“A medley of dark fruit on the nose; black cherry and plum with underlying notes of violet, rose, sandalwood and resinous oils. Approachable yet well- structured palate. There is lots of concentration and volume in the mouth without any heaviness thanks to refreshing acidity. This wine would pair well with grilled or barbecued meats or Mediterranean vegetables with fresh herbs.”
