Scotch Whisky
All Scottish whisky must be distilled in Scotland to a strength of less than 94.8% ABV before it is matured in oak barrels for at least three years within Scotland. There are two fundamentally different types of whiskey made in Scotland: Malt whisky and Grain whisky. Malt whisky can only be made from malted barley and must be distilled in pot stills. Grain whisky can be made from malted barley and other grains and is distilled in a continuous still.
