Domaine Le Pive is one of Vignobles JeanJean’s 9 wine estates in the Languedoc Roussillon. The wine company was founded in 1872 and has always sought to highlight the magnificent terroirs and wines of the region. From the heights of Larzac to the shores of the Mediterranean, the 9 estates that make up Vignobles Jeanjean are located on unique terroirs, representative of the diversity of the Languedoc.
Brigitte Jean Jean joined the family estate in 1992 and became the export manager in 2000. She has close connections to Quebec, Canada, which she calls her adoptive province. Her love of nature and the simple and beautiful things in life translates into the wines of the family’s estate which she proudly promotes.
Tasting Notes
Delicate notes of red fruit, citrus, white blossoms. The palate is clean and bright with refreshing minerality and crisp and dry finish. A lovely little rosé that captures that ease of a Mediterranean summer day. Serving suggestions include green salads, sushi, bouillabaisse and ratatouille.
Method
Le Pive Rose is from a newly recognized AOC in Southern France for light rosé wines only; Sable des Camarques AOC. The name of the appellation refers to the sandy soils (sable) of the Camargue which is a vast plain and the largest river delta in Europe situated between the two arms of the Rhône River before it reaches the Mediterranean Sea. This is a unique viticultural area due to its sandy soil, high winds combined with humidity and proximity to saltwater marshes which provide the grapes with a slow, even ripening.
A blend of organically grown Grenache Gris (the prized grape of the appellation and must make up a minimum of 55% of the total blend), Grenache Noir, Syrah and Merlot. Fermented in stainless steel.
