Ales
The practice of brewing ale at relatively warm temperatures has been occurring since ancient times and historical references to beer usually mean ales.
Ales are created with ale yeast which requires relatively warm temperatures for short periods of time to top ferment the ingredients into beer.  The combination of their fermentation technique and hops give these beers a strong, complex style with lots of flavours and aromas. This style of beer comes in many varieties, including Bitters, Milds, Abbey Ales, Pale Ales, Nut Browns, etc.
