Am Stein Estate Riesling (750ml)

The estate is in the village of Würzburg at the foot of the 1,200+ year old Würzburger Stein.  This is one of the most famous and largest grand cru in Europe at 85 hectares.  Towering slopes of pure limestone form a concave bowl that looms dramatically over the Main River.  Produced using organic and biodynamic viticulture and winemaking methods.  This wine sees no oak influence and emphasizes terroir and fresh primary fruit.  The vineyard lies at an altitude of 210 to 250m above sea level and has a slope of between 30 and 80%. The grapes must be picked selectively by hand.  The soil structure is shell limestone mixed with layers of loam and clay.  The wine goes through a long spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks that results in a crisp and complex wine.
